Scholarships
In an effort to better serve the dynamic membership and ideals of the VSPDT mission, VSPDT will offer two full scholarships and two partial scholarships each year to new VSPDT members applying for membership. The full scholarships will cover the initial $295 license fee for individual members (premier and facility licensees awarded scholarships will receive an $295 discount off their annual renewal), while the partial scholarships will provide a $150 discount off the initial license fee.
Scholarships are granted via an application process, whereby the applicant will include information within their VSPDT application essay detailing why they feel they would be ideal recipients. Determining factors in the awarding of scholarships include:
- Positive impact on the dog training profession
- Intention to become dynamically involved in the VSPDT community
- Financial considerations
- Positive impact on local community
The scholarship section of your application essay should detail the work you’re doing on a local level to promote positive training ideals and the Positively mission. If applicable, include any initiatives, goals or efforts you’ve made on a global level as well – these could include web-based initiatives, volunteer work away from home, involvement in ‘big picture’ movements and the like. Also list any financial hardships you or your business may be undergoing.
Scholarships are awarded to members applying for membership to VSPDT on an a rotating basis throughout each calendar year. All VSPDT applicants will be automatically considered for scholarships when applying for membership unless they expressly notify VSPDT by email that they do not wish to be considered. Alternatively, if you’re only willing and able to join VSPDT in the event that you win one of the annual scholarships, please note that on the appropriate section of the VSPDT application.
